Notice from Mayor Olivares: GRAFFITI AT CITY/COUNTY PARK

4/8/2026

The City of Rio Hondo takes acts of graffiti and vandalism at our City/County Park very seriously. Such  actions  constitute damage to public property and are violations of applicable municipal ordinances and state law.

The City has invested over $380,000 in park improvements to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children, families, and  visitors.  Acts of  vandalism undermine these investments and will not be tolerated.

And Police Chief Julian Longoria stated that any  individuals found responsible for defacing or damage be subject  to criminal charges, fines, restitution for damages, and prosecution to fullest extent of the extent of the law.

The City encourages all residents and visitors to take pride in our public spaces and remain vigilant.  If you witness any suspicious or unlawful activity, please report it immediately to local police.

Please see the attached photos documenting the vandalism that occurred over the Easter Holiday.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment protecting our community.
