City of Rio Hondo Boil Water Update

4/23/2026

Boil Water Notice Rescinded for City of Rio Hondo
The City of Rio Hondo has rescinded its boil water notice after confirming that the water system has been restored to safe quality and no longer requires boiling before use. The boil water advisory was originally issued on April 21, 2026 following a 12-inch water main break on Roberto Garza Street, which occurred during stormwater improvements at a primary school entrance. The incident caused a temporary disruption in water quality, prompting the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to require customers to  boil water for two minutes at high heat before drinking, brushing teeth, or washing hands.  The city worked closely with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality TCEQ, and the Texas Department of Health to test the water and the test results confirmed the water was safe for consumption. As a result, the boil water notice was officially lifted on April 23, 2026 at 11:00 am.
